How grand is Mount Tai?
With its emerald peaks, it stands tall in Qilu.
Nature's artistry weaves light and dark, dividing dusk and dawn.
My heart swells with the words of the past, as tears fill my eyes.
I yearn to climb the highest peak, and behold the world below.
People praise my humble abode, but how can I express my gratitude?
Through my countenance and tone, I convey my thoughts like a clear spring.
With a feather fan and a delicate brush, I shape my words like engraved silver.
I present my poems and essays, as an offering to honor those before me.
The realm's governance marches on steadily, how could it suddenly falter?
The melons of Huangtai ripen, from them comes plentiful blessings.
Many scholars have risen to serve in the court, their talents brightening the desolate world.
Even stolen books serve a purpose, if one's sincerity remains unwavering.
The spirits of resentment still linger, the Five Sacred Mountains have scattered without a trace.
Horses with peculiar hooves toil and gallop, their neighs echoing through the waning dusk.
As I gaze upon this scene, I am overwhelmed with sorrow, knowing I cannot capture it all.
If only the palaces and temples were free from dust, and the universe connected seamlessly.
(Translator's note: Mount Tai, also known as Taishan, is one of the Five Sacred Mountains in China. Qilu refers to the region of Shandong, where Mount Tai is located. Huangtai is a reference to an official position in ancient China, and it is also a metaphor for a fruitful outcome.)
